The orange field is our second largest
field. While it is longer than is wider, it is still
wide enough to support two to three separate battle
areas from side to side. The head on shooting gets intense
as you find shooters from both sides of the field prohibit
hard pushes up the middle.
This broad space also provides for flanking. Either
team can punch through on either side of the field thus
coming up from the side (flank) or from behind (true
flank). While this does not happen in every skirmish,
each team is aware of the possibility and it creates
a tension on the field that no one wants to ignore.
The pink field can be joined with the orange field for
even larger game playing theaters but is generally done
only for large groups booking the entire complex for
the day.
The Orange field is one of our CENTER FLAG Capture The
Flag fields. In center flag you pull the only flag on
the field from the center station and push it through
to your opposing teams flag station for the win.
Each side of the Orange field has an advantage and disadvantage.
The top side of the map (near registration) has high
ground defenses. Yet if you are down in numbers and
defending this area, the opposition has many points
of attack with large trees for their own cover. You
do not have as many trees for cover and one bunker.
The lower side of the map, (from enterance) has gullies
to bunker down into but keep you low in the ground and
no flee space should your defenses become flanked from
the wide right side of the field (679 ft). There are
a few very large trees for cover but only a few. It's
a tough last stand to make.
